Part 3 Intex Pool with 200lbs Pentair Sand Filter 15 hours After Install

I can not believe how clear this pool is getting!! Intex 18' X 4' Pool and the brown water from a well with a high iron content. I wanted to make a video to let others know what I have done to clear the water up. I should also mention that the water was what others called "poop soup" meaning it looked like mud water. I have added Metal Out, Clarifier, Shock, PH up, PH down & I was about to give up on this pool, until I found a used Pentair Sand Filter for 0.00 on Craigslist. My wife and I plan on upgrading next year to a 24' above ground pool so this filter will be used then also. I realize that this filter is way overkill, but it was a last ditch effort to keep this pool and it seems to be working. Hope this helps others that may want to give up on this pool and it's cheap filter which is worthless.

How To Find And Repair Most Swimming Pool Leaks

!9#: How To Find And Repair Most Swimming Pool Leaks

It's not uncommon for pool owners to notice that water seems to be leaking out of their pool after opening it for the year. But where is the leak coming from? Let's take a look and see how to find and repair swimming pool leaks.

First of all, you have to make sure that it really is a leak in the first place. What do you think is a leak, may be something else. There are actually three main causes of water loss from swimming pools and they are:

1. Swimming pool plumbing leaks

2. Swimming pool shell leaks

3. Normal evaporation or excessive splash

So before you go any further let's rule out number three in the list above. It's important to do this, because actually the sun can evaporate quite a bit of water from a pool on a daily basis without your realizing it, and swimmers can splash a lot of water out of a pool too..

To find out for sure if the water loss is due to evaporation or not, take a fairly large container and fill it with water and place it on the first step of your pool. Then remove enough water from the container so that the water level in the pool and in the container is exactly the same. Now leave the container there for a couple of days to see what happens with no one using the pool in the meantime. If after a couple of days the water level in the pool has gone down, and the water level in the container has gone down the same amount, then you know that the water loss you are experiencing is most likely just evaporation due to the sun.On the other hand, if the water in the pool has gone down farther than the water in the container, then most likely there is indeed a leak in your pool somewhere.

To find a pool leak, the first place to inspect is around your filter and pump. Do you notice any water spots or damp areas there? If so, try to trace back where the water is coming from. Very often, it will be a connection on one of the pipes in this particular area. You may need to turn on the pump for a while and observe it to see if any leaks develop while everything is running. If the leak begins to show, and you feel comfortable with repairing the pool plumbing, then this is a job that you may wish to do yourself. However, for most people it will be a job that is best left to a pool professional.

If no obvious leaks can be found in the plumbing, then perhaps the leak is in the shell of the pool itself. And in this case, it's almost always advisable to leave any of this type of work up to a well-qualified professional.

As you can see, finding and repairing swimming pool leaks is usually just a matter of eliminating possible causes until you find the real problem. Once the problem is found, your final decision is whether to fix it yourself or pay someone to do it instead.

Salt Water Filters

!9#: Salt Water Filters

If you've just installed a salt water pool system, you may be wondering what kind of filter is going to best meet your needs. Salt water filters for your pool work just like other pool filters, so choosing the right one is essential.

There are three basic kinds of salt water filters. Sand filters are the most versatile, and they offer perhaps the best cleaning capability for your pool. Whether you have a semi-public pool or simply a backyard oasis, a sand filter will give you the best possible water quality. A cartridge filter is far cheaper than any of your other filter choices, but they simply aren't effective as sand. Moreover, you have to replace them more frequently, so while the initial cash involved is low, the cost builds up over time. DE filters tend to offer great water quality results, and they're a good choice for lots of families.

Which one is right for me?

Figuring out which one to install in your pool is based on a number of factors. First, think about how frequently your pool is used and who uses it. Your pool will need a far better filter if it is used on a daily basis by a number of people. Second, consider the size of your pool carefully while you pick out the right filter. Finally, think about how much maintenance you want to undergo as you work with your filter.

For longer term use, sand is the answer.

For low maintenance, a cartridge filter is your best bet.

For extremely clean water, DE filters are the number one choice.

Keep these points in mind, too, as you search for salt water filters for your pool:

DE filters and cartridge filters simply aren't the right choice if you have a pool that sees more than ten occupants per day. While lots of manufacturers will suggest that their DE or cartridge filter can be used in that manner, it's just not the case. The debris in your pool can clog the filter, and you'll end up replacing it with a sand model instead.

Sand models do tend to create a level of inefficiency as they waste more water than any other type of pool filter with the weekly backwash. If your main concern is water efficiency, don't purchase a sand model.

DE filters are illegal in some places. Check your local regulations carefully before you make a purchase.

Finding the right salt water filters to meet your needs can be difficult, but there are two great ways to get recommendations that will actually work for your pool. First, chat with your local pool supply store. Some even offer home visit consultations so you can be sure to get something that meets your needs. Second, talk with other pool owners. If you don't personally know any, spend some time networking online with forums and bulletin boards. Find other pool owners who have similar experiences, and you'll be sure to learn from their mistakes and success with salt water filters.

Inflatable Toys For Toddlers - Bestsellers

!9# Inflatable Toys For Toddlers - Bestsellers

Summertime is usually an excellent opportunity to get some inflatable toys for toddlers and even for the older kids in the house. There are inflatable toys that you can easily set up inside the house but you'll find that the kids will have more fun when you set the toys out in the garden under the summer sun (don't forget the sunscreen of course!)

If you're currently trying to decide which inflatable toy to buy, here are some old time favorites judging by how long children could spend time on it.

One of the bestsellers are Inflatable bouncers. This is a constant favorite. Bouncers come in many types and designs. Many look like castles like the Bounceland Castle Bounce House. But they can also come as obstacle courses or Activity Centers such as the Sesame Street Activity center. You'll also find a lot of bouncers with a slide which always add to the fun and excitement for a toddler.

If you want even more fun to the average inflatable bouncer, you can easily find a set of balls which almost always ends up occupying a lot of younger toddlers.

Another inflatable toys for toddlers which by design is most popular in the summer are inflatable pools. Who doesn't want them eh? When mine was at that age, it was a daily favorite. It's one of those things I knew he would want to spend an hour or two in.

There are a lot of different types of inflatable pools now that your child will probably spend more than just an hour in it. I love the look and feel of the Ocean Play center by Intex (or any of the other ones that have a slide on it). The addition of a slide really puts its entertainment value much higher than just a normal pool and I know that that slide alone can be a source of constant fun for many water loving kids.

Last on the list are inflatable animals. Many of these kinds of toys are usually used as inflatable toys for the swimming pool although I find them to be just as entertaining for inside the house. Intex has a lot of these products such as the Intex Sea Turtle Ride On.

I advice of course that it is best to buy an animal that's your child favorite. Mine was into dinosaurs at some point and really loved the inflatable dinosaur that he got from one of the fairs in town. He even wanted to sleep with it (which I wasn't too sure about)

Lastly, whatever inflatable toys for kids you're buying, always remember to exercise caution. Make sure that what you're getting is safe for your child and meets safety guidelines.
